Mallard Manufacturing Corp. of Sterling,
Illinois reports that it’s business operations have
been sold to new ownership. The new business, Mallard
Handling Solutions, will continue to operate as Mallard
Manufacturing with corporate headquarters remaining
in Sterling.
Michael
Gunderson, Vice-President, General Manager and part
owner of the former business, will continue in these positions
and as a part owner of the newly formed Mallard Handling Solutions.
He is joined in ownership by Kevin Risch,
who fills the position of President, and will head the new
company’s sales and marketing efforts.
Mr. Gunderson joined Mallard Manufacturing
as General Manager in January of 2003, after several years
of manufacturing engineering and management experience in
high volume manufacturing environments. His focus with Mallard
has been to provide gravity flow handling solutions engineered
to the customer’s specific material handling and storage
need. Gunderson earned a BS in mechanical engineering from
Iowa State University and has a PE license in Iowa.
Mr. Risch comes to Mallard with 15 years of
experience in the material handling industry. Risch spent
10 years running a material handling dealership and 5 years
as division manager for a rack manufacturer. Risch earned
a BA in business from Illinois State University and an MBA
from the University of South Carolina.
With
the sale of Mallard Manufacturing Corp., Mrs. Sue
Wahl, widow of co-founder and long time owner John
F. (Jack) Wahl, ends her career with Mallard. Mrs.
Wahl had served as Secretary/Treasurer of the business since
1998, and took over as President of Mallard Manufacturing
upon her husband’s death in January 2006. In August
of 2006, Mrs. Wahl led the company’s celebration of
its 45th anniversary, operating as a family owned business
since 1961.
