How about now? You guessed it… the cartons, while properly loaded, are too big for the full-width roller carton flow lanes, causing overlap, potential system hang-ups, poor lane tracking and interference with adjacent lanes.
Full-width roller carton flow, like Mallard’s Cart-Track System, is ideal for same-sized cartons or containers requiring full surface/roller coverage. It’s also durable enough for heavier loads and easy to install; however, you really have to know your carton sizes before specifying roller widths – If cartons are too small, you’ll end up with wasted, unused space and if cartons are too large (as in the picture above) you’ll have overlap and system hang ups. Unfortunately, there aren’t many things in business that are consistent, so before you order your full-width roller carton flow system, here are a few pointers:
- Know all of your current carton weights, sizes and quantities
- Select the appropriate roller widths for each carton
- Plan for future carton sizes if possible
- Include carton flow rack sections with various roller-widths to accommodate a wider a variety of carton types and sizes
- Cart-Trak roller sizes- 6”, 9”, 12” and 16” widths
